Local Reconstructionist Events, April 17 and 18

Our havurah, along with several other Reconstructionist communities from our area, is co-sponsoring these wonderful events: a concert and one-day men’s study retreat. I hope many Shir Hadash members will attend. See you at the concert!

A CONCERT FOR PEACE WITH RABBI SHAWN ZEVIT--APRIL 17 8PM  TEMPLE BETH ZION, BROOKLINE

Temple Beth Zion , 1566 Beacon St. Brookline near Washington Square in Brookline, is presenting a benefit Concert for Peace with Rabbi Shawn Zevit of the Reconstructionist Federation on Saturday April 17 at 8PM.  Rabbi Zevit will be the scholar in residence at Temple Beth Zion April 16-18 focusing on the theme: 'Jewish Men: Walking A Sacred Path.'  The concert is co-sponsored by five local Reconstructionist synagogues: Ahavat Shalom, Agudas Achim, Dorshei Tzedek, Temple Hillel B'nai Torah, and Shir Hadash. Part of the concert proceeds will be donated equally to the Massachusetts Food Pantry and the American Jewish World Service in honor of their work to combat world hunger.

The concert will feature of mix of traditional and modern Jewish and international music and will include several musicians from the Beth Zion community accompanying Rabbi Zevit. Rabbi Zevit is an accomplished musician who has recorded several CDs including the award winning 'Generations: Music Across the Ages' with music of Kabbalat Shabbat and New Morning I Will Seek You: Awakening to the Beauty of the Day (www.rabbizevit.com).

Kabbalat Shabbat Service/Potluck Supper April 9 with Rabbi Audrey

Please join in to welcome Shabbat at Aaron and Ruth Seidman’s, 359 Tappan Street, Brookline, April 9, 6:30pm. Candle-lighting and Kiddush will be followed by supper, and then Rabbi Audrey Marcus-Berkman will lead the service.
We will end the evening with dessert and more socializing.
